The Name Game

So if we had a little girl on the way the names would have been down to 2 choices. Easy right? Very. Boy names are quite a bit harder. It used to be between 2 names as well but while scrolling through the endless lists of names on baby name sites I added a few...okay maybe like 15. And we can't narrow them down! I will do my best today not to throw every single one at you. I'm also going to (when I feel like it) write something by the name that maybe sways or desways us from the name for whatever reason. Now I will need your opinions. HONEST opinions. Before we get started there is something you should also know. We are traditional people but I want to stay away from names on the top lists. My sister and I both grew up with fairly normal names but original. We never had someone in the same class, or at least I had 1 in high school. I'm not sure my sister has had any. My husband however has a very common name and hated that every time someone yelled out Andrew 10 boys would turn around! So without any more of my rambling lets get onto the names shall we?!

Owen Carter-I very much like this name and Carter as a middle name just really seemed to go well together. That being said my husband kind of has a tradition that got started in his family where the father's first name is the baby's middle name. He loves this idea and I'm fine by it but Owen Andrew? Not a fan.

Cooper Andrew-We have liked Cooper for a couple of years now. My parents like it and I think its a "cool" name.

Logan Andrew-I'm a fan of Logan. The husband likes it too. The only thing that irks me? The meaning. It means from the hollow. If any of you can throw a positive spin on this one let me know. I tried with...well we were TTC so my ute was hollow, now its not, thus he is coming from that once hollow place...HAHA I tried!!!

Egan Andrew-This is one of our top names. Tippy top. Egan is an Irish name (Andrew is very Irish probably at least 80% if not more haha. I have Irish in my blood somewhere.) Egan means little fire, which we just love! See both of us are short people. I am barely over 5 foot on a good day and Andrew might reach 5'5. So sorry little man but you are probably going to be short unless my mother's side comes through for ya. The one problem we have with this name is who has ever heard of Egan? I have heard it as a last name, which is what everyone has said when we tell them this name. I mean I don't think its too far out there. Its close to Ethan and thats a very traditional name. I just don't want it to be too far out there. Like I said we are traditional people but we do want something not as common. So whats your take on this name? Like it? Not your style? Even if you hate it and it isn't your style do you think its a bogus name like Sundance, Speck or Hud? Sorry Mellencamp.

And there you have it! Not bad right? I only gave you 4 names. I guess we do have a short list! Now put on your thinking caps, you too lurkey loos I need some opinions!

-How big is baby? A mango! We also learned last week that baby is weighing 10 ounces!
-Weight gain? I'm up 6 pounds.
-Maternity clothes? Yup.
-Stretchies? Same
-Sleep? Its definitely getting harder to sleep as the belly grows. I'm also up about 3 times if not 5 to pee. I stop counting after awhile. Oh and have I mentioned the excruciating hip pain? No? Yeah, that too.
-Best moment this week? Another week down with a healthy little man!
-Movement? Not much honestly. I can't wait for big kicks. The doctor said that I will start feeling more movement now.
-Food cravings? Hot pepper dip. Its an old family recipe, its super spicy and super delicious.
-Gender? Its a BOY!
-Labor signs? Nooooo, thank you!
-Belly button in or out? Its getting shallow but still in for sure.
-What I miss? Probably a good nights sleep.
-What I am looking forward to? I'm looking forward to the half way point but I'm counting down until V-day!
-Weekly wisdom? Lets see here...write all of your questions/concerns down as they happen. Take it to the doctor with you that way you don't forget. For some reason I always end up at the doctor's office saying everything is peachy and I have no questions when 2 days before it seemed like I had a million!
-Milestones? Its a boy!

Official Update

I just got home from the ER and after 2 ultrasounds (vaginal and abdominal), monitoring to make sure I wasn't having contractions and an internal exam (OMGOSH). My cervix is long and closed and everything is well with Baby!! I don't even have a UTI!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!!!

Hopefully only good news on this blog from here on out! Up next? Anatomy scan with only 3 days and counting! SO READY FOR SOME BABY SHOPPING!

Pressure....Update....Kind of

I called again and the woman had just heard back from the doctor (apparently she is in surgery). She wants me to get a cervical length ultrasound done. The earliest appointment was on Thursday so she is going to ask the doctor if its okay to wait that long or if I need to go elsewhere. I reminded her that my anatomy scan is on Friday and if we were waiting until Thursday (meaning no real urgency) then Friday might work just as well. Two birds, one stone.

The woman also said that it could be something like a urinary tract infection and that when you get these during pregnancy they can have different symptoms than when not. I don't think I have a urinary tract infection...not peeing frequently (okay not any more than usual), no burning. I would be happy if it was just a UTI though!!

Please cervix be looong and clooooooosed! We got another 20 weeks to go at least!

I'll update again when I get a call and find out for sure what we are looking at doing. If I end up needing the ultrasound tonight I will let you know the results as well.

And well....prayers please :-)

Pressure....

Okay so I have been having lots of pressure on what feels like my cervix since last night. It is constant and hasn't gone away. I'm getting really worried and freaked out...Nothing makes it better but sometimes there are waves of more intense pressure. I called the doc almost 3 hours and have not heard back from them!!!

Please send me good thoughts while I'm waiting...I think I'm going to give them a call here again soon. Or is that being annoying? I know I need to be patient but come on! I'm scared! I want to know if this is normal and Google Med isn't going to help me on this one!

7 days and counting!

I'm so excited! As I laid in bed half asleep while my husband left for work this morning he leaned down to give me a kiss and he goes only 1 more week and we know who is going to be in that belly! Its crazy! I can't wait. I really hope the baby is cooperative haha! I told him I didn't want to be that girl that cries in the office if the baby is uncooperative but who knows how I will feel that day. And the baby has some pressure added, both my parents are coming up the night before to stay and go to the doctor with us. What can I say? Wild dogs couldn't keep them from this appointment haha! We do have big plans after though! WE ARE GOING SHOPPING!

I am trying not to think so much about the gender though. I have had it set in my mind for weeks now that this baby is a boy and you know what? I can't say that for certain now! I just don't know! Its only an article on the interwebs and if we believed everything on the internet we'd be in big trouble!

Its not all fun and games at this appointment, however. Its more than just a gender scan! This is a huge ultrasound. This is where they are going to make sure that the baby is developing correctly. Its not always good news and I'm also very scared. I think pregnancy is just that. The most exciting and scariest thing ever...

So please if you will send me some prayers, good vibes, what have you my way that all is well with baby I'd be very grateful :-)

Milestones

I have officially gone a week without unisom! Even though I had a couple days of nauseousness it was mild enough for the Sea Bands to take care of it. Also, yesterday was the first day of....lightning crotch! For those of you who are wondering what in the world I'm talking about I'm talking about this crazy sharp stabbing pain in your cervix! It only lasts a couple of seconds but its enough to make you gasp and grab at your vajayjay for dear life! I'm glad I was alone I can only imagine what DH would have to say about it haha.

AND DRUM ROLL PLEASE....Shortly after the lightning crotch I felt my first thump! It was right at the front of my ute where I always find the heartbeat, dead center, and it was like someone poked me! Definitely not gas haha. I haven't felt it since but I still get those scratching sensations almost daily and from what I have read (thank you google) that is also the baby moving. Pretty amazing if I can say so myself :-)
